Roles and responsibilities:

  • Prospect & Engage: Identify potential customers within the target market and engage them proactively.

Software Engineer

Lisbon / Remote – Portugal

We are currently expanding Priberam’s Software Development team, and are looking for highly motivated candidates to work in exciting products which leverage Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing to tackle problems in the Media, Legal and Healthcare industries. As a Software Engineer at Priberam, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining new features in two new products powered by AI speech and text technologies:

  • a multilingual media monitoring web platform which orchestrates hundreds of thousands of NLP jobs per day and allows users to extract intelligence through querying and data visualizations;
  • a web platform for automatic transcription, translation, subtitling and voice-over of audiovisual content.

 

The key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop full-stack software for Priberam’s line of products;
  • Develop code in C# and Python;
  • Database design and programming;
  • Integrate state of the art AI technologies for Speech, Machine Translation and Natural Language Understanding in our platforms;
  • Develop multiplatform applications (Windows/Linux) following a micro-services architecture (Docker, Kubernetes);
  • Follow industry standard practices for software development, testing and deployment.

The ideal candidate should have the following skills:

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics Engineering, or other related field;
  • Experience database programming and design (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.);

NLP/ML Junior Research Scientist

Lisbon / Remote – Portugal

We are currently expanding Priberam Labs, and are looking for highly motivated candidates to work in exciting projects related to Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. We offer a stimulating research environment, with connections to the international ML and NLP state-of-the-art research scene. We are looking for highly motivated researchers. The candidates are expected to work in collaboration with other European/Portuguese research centers and Universities. As a Junior Research Scientist at Priberam Labs, you will apply your skills to develop new algorithms and solutions in the scope of our products and ongoing European and National funded projects.

 

The key responsibilities will be:

  • Researching innovative and scalable machine learning techniques for NLP and text mining on various topics such as: Language Modeling, Language Generation, Neural Summarization, Entity Linking, Named Entity Recognition, Relation Extraction, Transfer Learning, Multilingual-transfer, Topic Classification, Information retrieval;
  • Writing prototype code and interacting with the product development team;
  • Integrating ML algorithms into the global NLP system;
  • Writing scientific papers, presenting our work at scientific conferences.

 

The ideal candidate should have the following skills:

  • MSc in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Electrical Engineering, or other related field;
  • Knowledge of Natural Language Processing and/or Machine Learning;
  • Experience in developing, analyzing, and implementing algorithms;
  • Excellent programming skills (preferably in Python);

IT Support and Administration Specialist

The key responsibilities will be:

  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot hardware and software.
  • Procurement and installation of new equipment.
  • Troubleshoot network issues.
  • Install and upgrade operating systems and computer software.
  • Work with contractors and third-party suppliers.
  • Experience with administration, managing and troubleshooting Windows and Linux systems.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure, network topology, protocols and security, including TCP Protocols, DNS, Routing, NAT, Firewall and VPN knowledge.

Research Internships

Lisbon, Portugal

  • Duration: 3 months
  • Skills: Machine Learning and/or Natural Language Processing

We welcome applications from Master’s and PhD students who would like to have a short-time experience in the industry. We offer a stimulating research environment, with connections to the international ML and NLP state-of-the-art research scene.
The specific start and end dates are flexible, but we expect interns to work for about three months in a project of their choice, together with our research team. Before the internship actually starts, the intern and our research team will elaborate a research plan suitable for a 3-month duration, with concrete goals.

The ideal candidate is:

  • a Master’s or PhD student in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Electrical Engineering, or other related field
  • someone with knowledge of Machine learning and/or Natural Language Processing
  • experienced in developing, analyzing, and implementing algorithms
  • a strong programmer (preferably in C++ and/or Python, but proficiency in other languages is acceptable)
  • (optional) an author of scientific papers in international conferences or journals.
